My 7 Tips to Creating a Solid Relationship with God
A genuine, intimate, lifetime relationship with God is the most important of our Christian walk! Your relationship with God is the oxygen you need to produce the fruit of a Godly Girl and live a life that is pleasing to God… LISTEN without a relationship with God, YOU will not last in this journey. A lot of people have tried living godly without God and they failed. Look around at the world today, a lot of people are failing at being good people because they do not have a relationship with God. GOD IS THE CREATOR OF ALL GOOD!! HE IS THE CHARACTERIZATION OF GOOD!! PERIODT!
A common issue is that most of us misunderstand our relationship with God because God is a spirit and not flesh. Like we can’t see, touch or smell God, rarely hear him audibly so this throws an alley wrench in how we normally build relationships. What do we do then? Do we just say “forget about it” “its not necessary for me to get through life” or “if God wants a relationship with me he need to make himself known!” That last one I have heard so many times and I am sure you have too. Or maybe you said it or feel it even now. That’s okay because we about to address that! Right now!
Deuteronomy 6:5 tells us that we must love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul and mind. We must love God with our entire being.
This means that absolutely NO ONE OR ANYTHING comes before God. A lot of us voice this but our actions reveal our hearts. If you skip out on your time with God for ANYTHING, ANYONE, God is not first in your life.
When we love God with everything in us, our soul longs for him all day. We have this unmet desire for his word because we understand that is the one key way to get to know Him intimately.
So how do we build this relationship with God? This is an individual and unique process but it usually includes the following steps:
Get alone and find a quiet, undistracted space.
Pray and ask God for a desire to know him personally/intimately, for him to fill you with his presence and Holy Spirit, create in you a clean heart and a renewed spirit and for you to be connected with others who are pursuing a relationship with him.
Here is a prayer if you need something verbatim: God, I wanna know you deeply! Liike what makes you cry, angry, happy, smile and jump for joy, I wanna feel you with me in a way that I cant ignore or run from, I wanna see you in my life in a way that I know its you and nobody else, I have this void in my soul God that I know only you can fill, I’ve tried the world and it just didn’t cut it so I wanna try you. I want to be filled with your Holy Spirit. Please Lord give me a relationship with you, I want us to be tighter than any other relationship in my life. Lord show me how to be intimate with you—its different for me but I want it. In your Son, my Savior Jesus name I pray this prayer, Amen.
Purchase a Bible.
Commit to studying the Bible for at least 5 mins per day. Verse mapping is cool and helpful –check out Pinterest for how to map a Bible verse.
Download the YouVersion Bible app on your phone, find a bible plan that interest you and start it. You can leverage this information when you have your bible study time. Also the bible app is the bible on the go. So if you’re at work and on your phone read the verse of the day and meditate on it.
Find some worship music and commit to 5 mins of praise each day—that’s like one song. You can definitely start more if you feel led! Here are some of my fav for reference: Tamela Mann, Koryn Hawthorne, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Kierra Sheard.

No one gets this right, we are just waking up every day by the grace of God and saying yes to God’s will and way for our life! God honors our effort to steal away to be with him. Just to sit in his presence! Oh it’s such a beautiful experience!! God loves a heart that is tuned into him.
